This was a "hands-on" intensive seminar. We learned and worked with our very-own fleeces. Ruth Elvestad is a fiber expert and technician from Olds College in Canada. Ms. Elvestad talked of the importance of shearing techniques, testing, evaluating, grading and sorting. This lecture included hands-on evaluations of fleece before and after shearing. In addition, Jeanette Campbell discussed proper recording methods at shearing time and how this can better guide our breeding and fiber processing decisions.
