History of Our Farm
Virtual Farm Tour

History of Our Farm Lonesome Dove Alpacas sits on 165 acres of family-owned farmland. The land has seen its share of wildlife, from cattle to horses, catfish to crias. The soil is rich in minerals and the pastures seem to roll on endlessly.  Once purchased by Dave’s Great-Grandfather from the Native Americans of the area, this farmland has been a source of pride for the entire family. Over the 100 years tornadoes have destroyed barns and fires have ravished other buildings but the family always strengthens and rebuilds. The original silo still exists and sits near the entrance to our facility as a beacon and remembrance of a great-grandfathers beginning, a grandfathers diligence and a grandsons dream to carry-on.

Lonesome Dove Alpacas is a wonderful place to bring your family. You can come and meet the Swickard’s to find out more about the “Alpaca Lifestyle” or visit your own animals…either way, we can promise you a relaxing trip to the country that you will always look forward to.
