History of Our Farm

Lonesome Dove Alpacas began in the hearts of two newly married people looking for a way to work for themselves, work out-of-doors and financially support a growing family. After years of finding nothing that would “fit-the-mold”, an article was sent to us about raising alpacas. One look at their amazing fleece and we were hooked… We quickly learned about the many tax advantages with raising/breeding alpacas, their low-maintenance care and the durability/desirability of their fiber.

Moving back to the Kansas area we were able to make our dreams a reality by building our alpaca-specific barn on the 165-acres once farmed by Dave’s Grandfather and Great Grandfather before him.

You can find Lonesome Dove Alpacas nestled in America’s Heartland…Stilwell, Kansas. We are conveniently located just 30 minutes south of the beautiful Country Club Plaza. Our family farm is rich in history, steeped in tradition, and a beautiful place to raise children and alpacas. We welcome you to come and visit our growing heard of beautiful Huacaya alpacas and experience Midwestern hospitality at its finest.
